NEEDLES CASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM QUALITY CONTROL TESTING PROCESS

As part of our ongoing “Product Development and Improvement” process, Needles recently expanded its Alpha/Beta Testing process.  Designed by the Needles Quality Assurance Team, the Alpha/Beta Testing process proactively tests or examines the new features and changes contained in every program update.  Named for its testing groups, the program’s goal is to eliminate the “surprises” that may reveal themselves once after an update’s release.

Alpha testers are a select group of Certified Needles Trainers and Technical Support staff members.  These individuals have years of experience setting-up and supporting the Needles program.  As a result, they understand the way that the program should operate and can work directly with the Needles Programming Team to streamline any necessary changes.  Once the programming of individual features is complete, the Alpha testers examine the features in an array of simulated environments.  Their goal is to predict how the feature works when used to accomplish certain tasks.

The Beta test group consists of the entire Needles staff (the primary Beta testers) and a carefully chosen group of clients (the secondary Beta testers).  After the Alpha testers evaluate the new program, the Needles staff loads and begins using the new program.  Charged with the task of simulating legal activities, the Needles staff integrates each new feature into the simulated case management process.  Not only does the staff use the new version to simulate a legal environment, they use it to run the office.  Once the Needles staff completes testing, the new version is “released” to a select group of Needles clients for additional testing.  These clients use Needles in their offices and provide the Needles Technical and Training Support teams with constant feedback and ideas.  By reviewing the comments and inquiries posed by the client “testers,” the Needles team is able to more effectively evaluate and further develop the new features.

By using the new version in both simulated and “real-world” environments, the testing process allows the Needles programming team to accurately evaluate the new version prior to its release.  Using the feedback of the Alpha and Beta testing groups, the Needles Programming Team reevaluates and possibly adjusts the coding of certain features.  Only after the new release successfully cycles through both the Alpha and Beta testing groups is it then made available to the larger group of Needles clients.  For additional information regarding the Needles Quality Control Testing Process, contact us directly:
